One of the warships owned by the Klingon Empire in the futuristic production Star Trek is the Klingon Warbird. It has been used by the empire during the mid-22nd century to the mid-23rd century including the alternate reality. The Warbird appear in many close encounters with the Federation around this time.
The Warbird, having the name, has a bird like appearance and is equipped with heavy armaments and strong defense system. The Romulan Empire has the same ship although it is more famous as the D’deridex class, thus the Romulans were supposed to have the only Warbird. The Klingon Empire’s Warbird is also considered as a battle cruiser and one of the largest ships of the species. There was much confusion over this matter because originally, the Klingon’s Warbird was supposed to be the same Klingon Bird-of-Prey ship and it was a simple error that went unnoticed on the side of production but the avid fans did not fail to notice.
It can fly at the normal warp speed of 6 and the fastest reaches the warp speed 9 although it could be dangerous for the ship’s propulsion system. It runs at the same warp speed of 6 when cloaked. Aside from the cloaking device, the ship is also protected by deflector shields. Both systems allows it to gain advantage over other ships in close or long-range combat. When it comes to the ships’ armaments, there are several to choose from. The ship has disruptor arrays and photon torpedo launchers. It also uses phasers and primary disruptor arrays.
