In the 24th century, the Federation utilized a runabout class of ship for operation called the Danube class. These ships were named after several rivers found on Earth and were made to be stationed in Deep Space 9. The small ships have a completely innovative feature and a maximum warp speed of 5.
The Danube class ships only measure 14 meters wide. Its high-performing warp propulsion system makes it a great runabout vessel. The ships could be used for towing larger ships up to the size of the Galor-class because it is equipped with a tractor beam emitter. Based on composition, the ship is made-up of quality materials used in the larger ships.
The hull is crafted from metallic composites that could interact with magnetic fields so that in case a ship gets lost, it could be tracked using a differential magnetometer. It has a contingency fuel cell that can supply power to the ship in case of emergency low power. It also has an antimatter pod that would be ejected when necessary.
It is powered by several types of defense armaments like phasers and photon torpedoes. During reconstruction under Chief Miles O’Brien, the ship gained additional banks of photon torpedoes aside from the one located in the forward cabin. Its phaser arrays and shield generators were also modified to give it more power for possible battles during the Dominion War.
