One of the magnificent huge ships owned by the Starfleet Federation is the Enterprise. The USS Enterprise NCC-1701D is the fifth flagship to bear the name since the original Enterprise was destroyed in 2731.

The technology behind the Enterprise D was adopted from the USS Pegasus. Enterprise construction happened under Commander Orfil Quinteros in Utopia Platilia Fleet Yards that was orbiting planet Mars.

It was launched in Mars year 2363 and was commissioned the following year. Its final systems completion and shakedown was done on the McKinley Earth Station. On stardate 41148, Rear Admiral Norah Satie ordered that Captain Jean-Luc Picard command the ship.

Being able to hold a number of 1014 crew and civilians, the Enterprise D is made up of 42 decks making it twice as big as the Constitution class ship. The ship has a warp speed limit of 9.8 but Commander Picard was able to push the engines and exceed a warp speed of 10.

Deck one holds the bridge, the captain’s ready room, and the conference lounge which is why it is an area highly protected by safety interlocks. Deck 4 is where one could find the main shuttle bay and some cargo bays. Deck 18 holds the other half of the total number of cargo bays while deck 13 holds and additional two shuttle bays.

The crew is protected by 12 phaser arrays, two torpedo launchers powered by 250 photon torpedoes and hundreds of antimatter launchers. It also possesses a shield.
